Marston, LeRoy and Barber crack Top 10

HUDSON, NY – Keeping their momentum going after an impressive opening match, the Herkimer Generals bowling team traveled to Hudson, NY last Wednesday (1/21) with the men finishing 11th overall and the women finishing third.

The men tallied 7,538 pins, led by sophomore Trevor Marston’s (Georgetown, NY) 665. His high of 225 helped Marston to second place overall, his best of the season. Following Marston was Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY). The freshman totaled 537 which was good enough for 30th.

Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY), Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY), Ben Newman (Utica, NY) and Eric Arthur (Remsen, NY) were the Generals final four competitors. Sterling finished with 513, Tanner finished with 463, Newman finished with 382 and Arthur finished with 357.

As for the women, sophomore’s Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY) and Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) again cracked the Top 10. Averaging 188 pins per match, LeRoy finished in fifth place with 565 pins. Barber was just behind her with a 173 average, giving Barber 10th place with 521 total.

Ronnie Hines (South Otselic, NY), Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY), Ashley Salisbury (Sherill, NY) and Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) were the last four women to compete for the Generals. Hines finished 15th overall (504), Buck finished 16th (502), Salisbury finished 19th (483) and Soper finished 23rd (401).

The bowling team’s next match against Hudson Valley on Tuesday (1/27) has been postponed. A reschedule date has yet to be determined. Due to this, their next scheduled match is Wednesday, February 4th against SUNY Adirondack.
