HERKIMER, NY – With only one player scoring in double figures Wednesday (1/28) against nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College, the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball was unable to score enough in their conference matchup, losing 72-36, dropping their fourth consecutive game.

Herkimer (5-13, 2-8) played the No. 6 ranked Hawks well in the first 10 minutes of regulation, seeing Kristy Wallace (Frankfort, NY) and Alexandria Hardy (Kerhonkson, NY) combine for the team’s first 11 points with Wallace scoring five and Hardy scoring six. It helped the Generals lead 11-10 midway through the first half, battling through four lead changes in the process.

The final lead change was obtained by Mohawk Valley, controlling the final 10 minutes of the half, finishing the quarter on a 38-6 run and 45-17 lead at intermission.

Much of the same occurred in the second half with the Hawks building a 36-point lead (60-24) within the first eight minutes of play. It stayed there till the end of regulation.

Up next for Herkimer is Clinton Community College on Saturday (1/24). The Cougars are winless this season in 20 games. It will be the Generals fourth consecutive Mountain Valley Conference game, and tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
