Hutchison Green & Gold Female Athlete for January

HERKIMER, NY – Sophomore Erin Hutchison was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month in January. Hutchison, an Education: Early Childhood major at Herkimer College, captured a Top 4 finish in all of her events competed in, totaling 15 events during the month.

The Macedon, NY native had first place finishes in the breaststroke, freestyle, medley relay and freestyle relay. Her time of 21:56.80 in the 1650 yd. Freestyle broke her own school record in SUNY Delhi, placing first in all four of her events competed in that weekend.

Both second place finishes came in the 200 yd. Medley Relay and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay at the Genesee Last Chance Meet, helping her relay team post a 2:23.31 in the 200 and 5:26.18 in the 400.

All third and fourth place finishes came in three separate meets at Monroe, SUNY Delhi and Genesee. The five third place finishes came in the 200 yd. Individual Medley (2:44.07), 400 yd. Medley Relay (5:31.24), 800 yd. Freestyle Relay (11:00.46), 50 yd. Freestyle (31.03) and 200 yd. Breaststroke (3:03.38). The three fourth place finishes came in the 100 yd. Breaststroke (1:25.37), 200 yd. Breaststroke (3:01.53) and 50 yd. Mixed Freestyle (31.16).

“Erin has been consistent with her performances over the course of the season,” said Head Swimming & Diving Coach Vicki Brown. “She has continued to improve her times in all events. This is a direct results of her focus, work ethic and desire to compete and to do well. Erin is a hard worker, who leads by example!”
