Away trip ends with loss to Royals

SCHENECTADY, NY – Having a chance to sweep their first series of the season on the road Wednesday (2/18), the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team came up a couple points short, losing to Schenectady County 53-49.

Herkimer (7-17, 4-11) had beaten the Royals by 10 in January at home, but couldn’t stop the trio of Taylor Cater, Morgan Sullivan and Shiann Coons. All three players combined for 44 of the 53 the Royals scored in the contest.

As for Herkimer, Raven Griffin (Syracuse, NY) led the Generals in scoring for the third straight game, totaling 16. After her Nicole Doolen (Ilion, NY) had 10, Erica Tracy (Cobleskill, NY) had nine, Chelsea Jory (Herkimer, NY) had six, Emily Rexford (Canton, NY) had three, Alexandria Hardy (Kerhonkson, NY) had two and Kristy Wallace (Frankfort, NY) had one.

The Generals last game of the regular season is Saturday (2/21). They’ll host the No. 10 ranked North Country Saints, a team that has won their last five game. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
