Ann Marie Murray, Ph.D.

Dr. Ann Marie Murray serves as the third president of Herkimer County Community College, a position she has held since August 11, 2008. President Murray has an extensive background in higher education and mathematics education, both as an administrator and as a faculty member. She comes to HCCC from Broome Community College where she served as vice president for academic affairs since 2005 and was responsible for the oversight of all academic programs and academic functions of the college, including the schools of business and public services, liberal arts, health sciences and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; continuing education; international education; learning resource center; teaching resource center; and online learning.
Dr. Murray also spent many years at Hudson Valley Community College where she held the positions of dean of business and engineering and industrial technologies, associate dean of academic services and department chair for mathematics and science and engineering science. She also taught mathematics at Hudson Valley for 19 years, having moved up in rank from an adjunct to full professor. While at Hudson Valley, she received the Excellence in Teaching Award, the President's Award for Service, and the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Murray holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, NY and several degrees from the University of Albany including Master of Arts in Advanced Classroom Teaching, Master of Science in Instructional Technology, Certificate of Advanced Study in Education Theory and Practice, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Murray is originally from Poughkeepsie, NY. She and her husband John share five grown children and reside in the village of Herkimer.
