Herkimer College Announces Green and Gold Athletes for September

Herkimer College women’s volleyball player Madiana Aceto was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month for September. Madiana led the team in digs for the month of September with 79.  She also contributed 31 kills, 4 assists, 8 aces, and a total of 45 points in 11 matches during the month of September.   Madiana is a sophomore Business Administration major and is now participating in an internship with Disney World.

Men’s soccer player Cathal Carney was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for September.  Cathal is a freshman General Studies major at Herkimer College. In September, Cathal led the Generals to six wins by making 16 saves and not allowing any goals.

Herkimer College’s athletic program is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association offering 20 varsity and one junior varsity teams. The program has amassed 65 national championships, 132 Region III titles, 176 Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference championships and 31 National Academic Team of the Year awards. Herkimer College won the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup, now called the Daktronics Cup, in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2020 ranking the Herkimer Generals athletic program first in the nation among non-scholarship two-year athletic programs, based on national championship competition.
