Cohen, Moore and Ashe finish first at Ithaca Tuesday Meet

ITHACA, NY – Competing in their third track meet in less than a week, the Herkimer Generals Track & Field team fared well at the Ithaca College Tuesday Meet on Tuesday (4/21).

The men had their best showing of the season, posting three first place, two second place and three third place finishes at Glazer Arena. Jhamel Cohen (Brooklyn, NY), Demetrius Moore (Cleveland, OH) and Gregory Ashe (Watertown, NY) managed first place finishes. Cohen posted a 23.51 in the 200-meter dash, Moore posted a 52.49 in the 400-meter dash and Ashe posted a 41:20.01 in the 10,000-meter run.

Second place finishes came from Cohen and Hizyme Potter (Syracuse, NY). Cohen ran an 11.91 in the 100-meter dash and Potter leaped 5.44 meters in the long jump.

Third place finished came from Seibeon Domasin (Morrisville, VT), Cohen and Elijah Dones (New Paltz, NY). Domasin had a 12.27 in the 100-meter dash, Cohen leaped 5.42 meters in the long jump and Dones threw the shot put 11.94 meters.

As for the women, their top three events were the long jump, shot put and javelin throw. Luiasha Charles (Middletown, NY) placed third in the long jump (3.56m), Katrina Murray (Rochester, NY) placed sixth in the shot put (8.38m) and Alexis Nowack (Ilion, NY) placed seventh in the javelin throw (21.31m).

The Generals continue their busy schedule this Saturday, April 25^th, traveling to St. John Fisher College for their final meet for the Region III Championship. Events at Growney Stadium in Rochester, NY are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
