Women’s soccer blanks Lazers on the road

SYRACUSE, NY – In their first regular season game on the road Thursday (9/3), the #2 Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team kept up their superb at David W. Murphy Field, defeating Onondaga Community College 5-0.

The Generals (3-0), who scored four goals in the first half, saw freshman Michaela Bianca (Guilderland, NY) net the first goal of the game in the 20th minute on an assist from Teigha Ward (Ilion, NY). It was Bianca’s fourth goal of the season, which is second best on the team in their first three games.

Scoring three of the team’s final four goals was Ward. The sophomore netted goals in the 36th, 42nd and 51st on assists from Kalli Warmingham (Newport, NY), Leann Clark (St. Johnsville, NY) and Nicole Doolen (Ilion, NY). Each built the team’s lead on the Lazers, accumulating her national leading 14th goal and third hat trick of the season.

Giving the Generals a 3-0 lead in the 37th minute was Alexys Bolton (Middleville, NY). It was Bolton’s second goal of the season, assisted by Clark who had two assists in the game.

In goal again was Sydney Stanley (Schoharie, NY). The sophomore had three saves in her third consecutive shutout of the season. Stanley will look to keep that streak alive this Saturday (9/5) when the Generals come back home to host Jamestown Community College. Game time between the Jayhawks and Generals is scheduled for 1 p.m.
