SYRACUSE, NY – After going 45 minutes without a goal in the first half of Thursday’s (9/3) game against Onondaga, the #4 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team amassed three goals in the second half at David W. Murphy Field, defeating the Lazers 3-0 for their second consecutive win.

Herkimer (2-1) needed sophomore Kevin Van der Slik (Zoetermeer, Holland) to get the team going, netting his second goal of the season on an assist from Thomas Callister (Castletown, Isle of Man) in the 57th minute. It was Van der Slik’s second consecutive game with a game-winner.

Providing the two goal advantage just one minute later in the 58th was Anthony Rojas (Brentwood, NY). The defender connected with freshman teammate Maans Soerensen (Stockholm, Sweeden) to make it 2-0. The goal and assist for both Rojas and Soerensen was their first of the season.

Netting the third and final goal was Yuu Sasaki (Chiba, Japan). Sasaki netted his first goal of the season on Callister’s second assist of the day in the 79th minute.
