HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Sydney Stanley was selected as NJCAA DIII National Goalie of the Week, helping her team improve to 5-0 with wins over Onondaga, Jamestown and Finger Lakes.

Stanley – a Business: Business Administration major Herkimer College – has yet to yield a goal to her competition this season in 450 minutes. The sophomore from Schoharie, NY amassed five saves in the three games last week which more than doubled her totals in the previous two games. Despite the extra work on defense, Stanley’s play has been consistent, collecting five shutouts in the process. To put it in perspective, the NSCAA All-American had five shutouts in 16 games played one season ago (2014).

"I am proud of Sydney's development as a goalkeeper with our program," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. "Her love and passion for the game allows her to get better each and every day! Earning national goalie of the week is not only an accomplishment for herself, but the whole team, working endlessly in making it difficult for our opponents to score goals."
