HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Michaela Bianca was named NJCAA DIII National Player of the Week on Wednesday (10/21), helping the #2 Generals to a perfect 3-0 record.

Bianca – a Business: Business Administration major at Herkimer College – managed three goals and three assists Hudson Valley, Jefferson and #8 Genesee, beginning the week with two goals and two assists against the Vikings in a 4-0 win. Her third goal came against the Cannoneers in another 4-0 win, then tallied her third assist in overtime against the Cougars for the 1-0 victory at home. It was the team’s fourth consecutive win over ranked opponents, now boasting a six-game win streak into regionals, which will be hosted at Wehrum Stadium. Bianca has totaled 12 goals and 13 assists in 15 games this season, ranking 26th nationally in goals and fifth in assists.

“Michaela’s work rate on the field is hard to match for any opponent,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “She creates a lot of opportunities for our offense with her movement which in return has given her some success in scoring goals. I’m looking forward to what she has in store for us with playoffs coming up next week.”
