National Player of the Week honors for Ward
HERKIMER, NY – For the second time this season, Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Teigha Ward was awarded as NJCAA DIII National Player of the Week, helping her team to a consecutive Region III Championship.
Ward – an Education: Physical Education major at Herkimer College – had two goals and one assist in the Region III Championship Tournament. Her second goal was the game-winner over Tompkins-Cortland Community College, defeating the Panthers 1-0 which advanced the Generals to the national tournament where they received the #1 seed. Her first goal and assist allowed the Generals to advance in the semifinal against North Country, defeating the Saints 4-0 at Wehrum Stadium.
“Teigha keeps coming through for us when we need it most,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “Our chemistry is right where we need it to be headed into nationals.”
