Region III Athlete of the Week honors for Stanley

HERKIMER, NY – Capturing her fourth player of the week honor, this time from the regional ranking, Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Sydney Stanley tallied two more shutouts which helped her team to another national playoff berth in 2015.

Stanley – a Business: Business Administration major at Herkimer College – registered eight saves in the semis and six in the regional championship game at Wehrum Stadium to help the Generals to back-to-back Region III Championships. Her 14 totals saves helped the sophomore to 16 shutouts on the season, by far the most in the nation. Stanley has not allowed a goal in any of the team’s wins this season, riding an eight-game win streak into the national tournament.

“Sydney continues to set the tone for our defense with superb communication,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “It has resulted in a lot of on-field success for our program, winning the regional championship for a second consecutive year.”
