Women’s Soccer finishes fourth in national tournament

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Allowing three goals in a game for the first time all season, the #1 Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team lost to #3 SUNY Broome 3-0 in regulation of the national third place game at Ocean County Stadium Sunday (11/15).

Herkimer (17-3, 3-1) allowed two goals in the first half, one on an assist from Nicole Harmer to Kaelyn Mitchitti in the 15th, and the other on a penalty kick in the 21st, scored by Broome’s Alexa Rudiloso.

It remained a two goal advantage until Michitti scored her second goal of the game in the 85th, making it 3-0 on another assist from Harmer.

In goal for the Generals was Sydney Stanley (Schoharie, NY). The sophomore saved seven in 90 minutes. In goal for the Hornets was Erin Catlin. She saved one shot.

With the win, SUNY Broome finished third in the nation, going 1-1 on the season against Herkimer. As for the Generals they finished fourth.
