Roten helps program to another Green & Gold award

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals swimmer Cameron Roten of Johnstown, NY was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for December.

Roten, a Communication Arts: Digital Filmmaking major at Herkimer College, competed in the program’s only meet of the month, tallying Top 5 finishes in each of his four events at Monroe Community College.

Roten posted season bests in the 50 yd. and 100 yd. Freestyle. His 24.34 in the 50 gave him second place and 55.39 in the 100 gave him first place. His final Top 5 times came from the 500 yd. Freestyle Relay and 200 yd. Medley Relay. Roten joined Nicholas Lanckton (Holland Patent, NY), Jacob Cardinal (Newport, NY) and Dean Schrider (Holland Patent, NY) in the relay, posting a 9:08.94 which helped the group to fourth place. The freshman’s 1:59.53 in the Medley Relay helped Roten to fifth place.

“Cameron has been working really hard in practice, taking constructive feedback seriously and, as a result, his technique and times have improved,” said Head Swimming & Diving Coach Vicki Brown. “He is a respectable teammate and will continue to be a positive contributor!”
