Durgan places second in singles at Royals Invitational
SCHENECTADY, NY – In their fourth match of the season at the 22nd Annual Schenectady Invitational on Sunday (2/7), the Herkimer Generals bowling program finished 12th and sixth overall.
Capturing 12th place was the men, totaling 6072 pins in All-Events. Leading the way was Matt Gladstone (Norwich, NY) who had 1147 pins in All-Events. His hi was 228, only reaching over 200 in two of his six games in singles and doubles, giving him 29th overall.
Behind Gladstone was Hunter Guest (Middleburgh, NY), Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY), Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY), Ean Hayner (Kingston, NY) and Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY). Guest totaled 1041, doing his best in doubles with Hayner when he bowled a 202. Budd finished 69th with a 1004, also doing his best in doubles with Gladstone. The freshman bowled a 193 and 192 in his doubles series. Sterling totaled 981 (224, 175, 156, 133, 158, 135), Hayner totaled 911 (136, 165, 207, 132, 145, 126) and Cross totaled 893 (170, 128, 143, 130, 133, 189).
As for the women, they captured sixth overall, knocking down 5566 pins in total. Helping them to that figure was Molly McGuire (Solvay, NY) and Megan Durgan (Rome, NY). Each placed in the Top 20 with McGuire totaling 1004 and Durgan totaling 999. McGuire did most of her damage in singles, averaging 171.6 per game for a 515. As for Durgan, she averaged a 185.3 which helped the freshman to second overall in singles, totaling 556.
Rounding out the women was Korena Kinney (Taberg, NY), Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY) and Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY). Kinney placed 28th (966), Buck placed 31st (957) and Salisbury placed 38th (857).
The Generals next match is on Tuesday (2/9). They’ll be traveling to SUNY Adirondack with actions slated for 1 p.m.
