Richer Green & Gold after All-Region performance

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals swimmer Corinne Richer of Clinton, NY was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month for February, helping her program to a third place finish at regionals in 2016.

Richer, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Science major at Herkimer College, swam in an impressive seven events at Monroe Community College, capturing second team All-Region honors in the 200 yd. Butterfly after she placed second in the event thanks to a time of 2:42.18. It was her best finish of the three-day meet, placing third three times and fourth twice. Her third place finishes came in the 400 yd. Individual Medley (5:25.78), 1650 yd. Freestyle (21:24.61), 400 yd. Medley Relay (5:01.01) and 800 yd. Freestyle Relay (10:08.45). Fourth place came in the 200 yd. Medley Relay (2:20.73) and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay (4:34.16). Joining Richer in the relays was Hannah Watts (Norwich, NY), Jordan Mercer (Oneida, NY), Jensen VanNostrand (Macedon, NY) and Leah Giacchetta (Rotterdam, NY).

“Corinne is a solid teammate – she is confident in her skills and knows how to swim a smart race,” said Head Swimming & Diving Coach Vicki Brown. “I know I can depend on her to train hard and swim well when we need her most!”
