HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals swimming & diving program collected two College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) All-American and 10 honorable mentions this past weekend at Indian River State College (FL), the host for the 2016 Swimming and Diving National Championship.

Getting both CSCAA All-American nods was Nicholas Herrlett (Rotterdam, NY). The freshman placed third in both one-meter (335.45 points) and three-meter (281.50 points) diving after winning a regional championship in both events at Monroe Community College. It was the highest finish in the history of the men’s program in that event.

That wasn’t it however for Herrlett, as he also managed a CSCAA honorable mention in the 50 yd. Breaststroke after he finished in 12th place, posting a 34.64.

Joining Herrlett as an individual CSCAA honorable mention was Corinne Richer (Clinton, NY). The sophomore swam for 12th place in the 400 yd. Individual Medley after she posted a 5:28.65.

Herkimer’s eight other CSCAA honorable mentions came from relays. Jacob Cardinal (Newport, NY), Nicholas Lanckton (Holland Patent, NY), Dean Schrider (Holland Patent, NY) and Cameron Roten (Johnstown, NY) placed 10th or better in the 400 yd. Medley Relay (4:08.07), 800 yd. Freestyle Relay (8:11.24), 200 yd. Medley Relay (1:51.47) and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay (3:35.14) for the men.

As for the women, Hannah Watts (Norwich, NY), Jordan Mercer (Oneida, NY), Jensen VanNostrand (Macedon, NY) and Richer placed 10th or better in the 800 yd. Freestyle (9:49.83), 400 yd. Medley Relay (5:00.61) and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay (4:30.61).

“It’s an honor to coach these individuals and the team – they all exceeded expectations,” said Head Swimming & Diving Coach Vicki Brown. “They are all very deserving and this recognition further highlights this team’s outstanding season!”
