(Kelly gives Herkimer a two-goal advantage in the 40th minute of Saturday's game).

HERKIMER, NY – Netting four goals on Saturday (8/27), two in each half, the #7 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team defeated #2 Bunker Hill 4-0 at Wehrum Stadium in their Coliseum Kickoff Classic.

Herkimer (1-0, 0-0) wasted no time scoring in the first minute of the game when Dajhal Kelly (Saint Kitts, Caribbean Sea) found himself behind the defense and one-on-one with the goalie, scoring right-to-left for his first score of the season unassisted.

40 minutes later Kelly scored again, in similar fashion to his first, getting behind defense with only the goalie in his way. The forward dribbled around Bunker Hill’s Jonathan Bernardez and scored in the top right of the net. It remained 2-0 into intermission.

In the second half, it took Herkimer until the 59th to make it a three-goal advantage, watching Camilo Avendano (Cape Coral, FL) connect with Kelly for their only assisted goal of the game.

It became a four goal advantage after Willie Meyer (Red Creek, NY) scored in the 73rd minute, taking the ball away from the goalie inside the 18, then scoring on the empty netter.

In goal for the Generals was Sean Connolly (Latham, NY) and Roandre Wollery (Hartford, CT). Connolly got the start and played 70 minutes, saving one shot. As for Woller, the freshman saved two shots in 20 minutes of play.
