Herkimer women’s soccer defeated the Niagara Community College Thunderwolves Sunday (9/25).  The Generals defense dominated the Thunderwolves as they refused Niagara’s attempt to possess the ball in their half of the field.  Herkimer remained in control of momentum and played fundamentally strong.  #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) scored Herkimer’s first goal assisted by #15 Hannah Taylor (St. Johnsville, NY).  The Thunderwolves held on tight for 14 more minutes but Herkimer freshman #2 Alexis Ramos led a beautiful pass up to #7 Jenna Rogers (Port Leyden, NY) who touched it by the Niagara defender and finished it on a one on one shot against Thunderwolves goalie #21 Courtney Kaczor.  Freshman midfielder #3 Alyse Griffin (Camden, NY) scored the final goal of the first half assisted by sophomore midfielder #18 Leann Clark (St. Johnsville).  This left the score 3-0 at the end of the half.

The Generals returned to the game in the second half equally as strong and energized.  Herkimer utilized the depth of their bench in the second half and took advantage of the Thunderwolves’ tired legs.  Although Herkimer only found the back of the net once more, they remained in control of the ball for the majority of the second half and challenged Kaczor at the net.  Sophomore #10 Grace Johnson (Tully, NY) assisted #7 Rogers in the final goal of the game leaving the final score 4-0, Herkimer.
