#9 Generals Women's Soccer falls to #5 Erie Kats

Saturday afternoon Herkimer Generals women’s soccer hosted the fifth ranked Erie Kats.  Herkimer unfortunately was not able to contain the Kats offense as they led early in the game taking the wind out of our sails in the third minute.  The Kat’s offense was able to control the ball on their side of the field very well leaving Herkimer to expend their energy trying to defend for much of the first half.  At the half Erie led 2-0.  Herkimer returned from the half with extra motivation to get those goals back but a third goal from Erie’s Chrissy Alonge was scored shortly into the second half.  In the last half hour of the game Herkimer shifted into an extra gear, not going down without a fight.  The Generals quickly bounced back scoring two goals in 15 minutes from #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) assisted by #7 Jenna Rogers (Port Leyden, NY), and  the second unassisted by #2 Alexis Ramos (Utica, NY).  But Erie locked down the net after that not allowing Herkimer to score again for the remainder of the game.  The final score, Herkimer 2, Erie 5.  Herkimer looks to turn the page and focus on their next opponent the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers.
