Herkimer College to host artist’s reception

Herkimer College is hosting an artist’s reception for its newest Cogar Gallery exhibit.

The exhibit, simply titled “Paintings,” is a collection of work by artist David Cadwalader of Cherry Valley, NY. Cadwalader’s passion for art began early, as a grade school art teacher piqued his interest in colors and shapes. This influence can be felt in his current works, which feature bold, painted line work in primary colors.

The pieces are also largely abstract, many going unnamed and relying on personal interpretation to help spread his message.

“You, seeing these pictures, bring yourself and your thoughts and experiences, which complete the picture,” he said in an artist’s statement.

“Paintings” debuted Oct. 9 and will be on display until Nov. 6. An artist’s reception will be held Friday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Cogar Gallery.

The Cogar Gallery is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when the College is open. For more information, visit www.herkimer.edu/cogar.
