Herkimer College’s Forensic Investigations A.A.S. degree program was named one of the top programs of its kind in the country by CrimeSceneInvestigatorEdu.org, an independent online resource providing information on education for crime scene investigation and forensic professionals.

The program was included in its list of Best Associate Programs in Crime Scene Investigation for 2020-21. The list highlights programs the publishers consider the top CSI and forensic science undergraduate programs in the country and “provide strong examples of the kinds of things you should be looking for in the undergraduate programs offered in your area,” according to the CSIE website.

Herkimer College was listed third, with special nods for its small class sizes, expansive SUNY transfer agreements, and extensive field training. The list included 13 associate degree programs. Programs were chosen based on qualifications like faculty experience, training facilities and lab equipment, and opportunities for meaningful hands-on experiential learning.

According to the CSIE, real-world demands for professionals skilled in forensic investigations has never been higher. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that positions in the field will increase by 14 percent over the next decade, a rate that far outpaces the average for all other professions.

More information on the program can be found on Herkimer’s forensic investigations degree page.
