Men's Soccer gets first win of season at Niagara

Sanborn, NY - In a game that went down to the final minutes, the Herkimer College Men's Soccer team secured their first win of the 2021 Spring season with a 2-1 win over Niagara County Community College on Friday afternoon in Sanborn, NY. The win evens up the Generals record at 1-1-1 for the season.

Herkimer didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard with Sophomore Alex Charles (Christ Church, St. Kitts) scoring just 3 minutes into the contest to give the Generals a 1-0 lead. But that didn't last long as five minutes later, Niagara put in the equalizer to tie it at 1-1.

It stayed that way all the way until 8 minutes left in the contest when Christ Valle (Highland Mills, NY) put in the game winner on an assist from Charles. Goalkeeper Manabu Takahashi (Osaka, Japan) got the win in goal for Herkimer, making 4 saves in the win.

The #4 Generals now return home on Friday, April 23rd to take on the Panthers from Tompkins-Cortland Community College at Wehrum Stadium. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
