Marston and Barber place Top 15 in Conference

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Herkimer Generals Bowling team finished their regular season Wednesday (2/12), competing at Schenectady County Community College. The only Generals to bowl over a 500 series were Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY) and Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY), helping the men’s team finish in fifth place (2202 pins) and women’s team finish in third place (2233 pins) in the match.

The men (6-24) accumulated 14,596 pins in six regular season matches, finishing fifth in the Mountain Valley Conference. Helping them to that total was Marston, Adam Kozecke (Endwell, NY), Joseph Hilts (Ilion, NY), Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY), Thomas Carlson (Apalachin, NY) and Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY). On Wednesday, Marston led his group again, compiling a 522 series (166, 203, 153), which also included the highest game total of 203. After Marston, who was 15th in the conference in individual standings, averaging 195.94 per game, Kozecke bowled a 480 (116, 187, 177), Hilts bowled a 416 (149, 117, 150), LaJuett bowled a 412 (126, 155, 131), Carlson bowled a 335 (122, 88, 125) and Tanner bowled a 316 (139, 102, 75).

The women (6-12) accumulated 13,738 pins during the regular season, thanks to strong efforts from Barber, Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY), Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY), Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY), Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY) and Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY). It placed the team third in the conference, led by Barber’s 535 series (160, 164, 211) on Wednesday, averaging 178.3 per game. After Barber, who finished 15th overall in the conference with 3,104 pins and a hi-game of 222, LeRoy bowled a 485 (163, 149, 173), Soper bowled a 408 (140, 135, 133), Flander bowled a 394 (112, 135, 147), Fogerty bowled a 390 (134, 144, 112) and Gallup bowled a 374 (127, 129, 118).  

Next up for the team is the Region III Championship, hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College at the AMF Pin-O-Rama. Competition will be on Sunday, February 16th with match-play beginning at 9 a.m.
