Barber, LeRoy and Marston do well in Regionals

(Destiny LeRoy bowled a 1299 in doubles, 692 in singles and 1300 overall on Sunday at Regionals).

UTICA, NY – On Sunday, February 16th at Regionals, hosted by AMF Pin-O-Rama in Utica, NY, the Herkimer Generals bowling team had solid overall contributions from three student-athletes. They were Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY), Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) and Destiny LeRoy (Soduc, NY). Each helped Herkimer to respectable finishes in singles, doubles and all events, seeing the men’s team finish seventh (7169 pins) and the women’s team finish in fifth place (6976 pins).

In doubles, Marston was paired with teammate Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY). Together they bowled a 1327 series, giving them 20th place. As for the women, Barber and LeRoy paired in doubles, bowling a 1299 series, good enough for 10th place, the highest spot earned by the Generals in Regionals.

Other combinations on Sunday consisted of Adam Kozecke (Endwell, NY) and Joseph Hilts (Ilion, NY); Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY) and Thomas Carlson (Apalachin, NY); Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY) and Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY); and Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY) and Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY). Kozecke and Hilts bowled a 1142 (24th place), Tanner and Carlson bowled a 1025 (26th place), Fogerty and Soper bowled a 1092 (17th place) and Flander and Gallup bowled a 1035 (18th place).

In singles, Marston, LeRoy and Barber all had Top 20 finishes. LeRoy led the group bowling a 692 series, which gave her 12 place; Marston bowled a 768 series which gave him 14th place and Barber bowled a 668 series, giving her 19th place.

No other General finished in the Top 30 in singles. Kozecke bowled a 675 series (38th), LaJuett bowled a 607 series (46th), Hilts bowled a 590 series (48th), Carlson bowled a 463 series (54th), Tanner bowled a 379 series (58th), Soper bowled a 612 series (31st), Gallup bowled a 584 series (34th), Fogerty bowled a 531 series (37th) and Flander bowled a 471 series (41st).

Overall standings saw Barber, LeRoy and Marston place in the Top 25. Barber topped the field in this one, accumulating 1359 pins, good enough for 13th place. After her, LeRoy placed 21st thanks to a 1300. Marston rounded out the group with a 1442, which was good enough for 24th place.

The rest of the team saw Kozecke bowl a 1270 (43rd place), LaJuett bowl a 1260 (44th place), Hilts bowl a 1137 (52nd place), Carlson bowl a 867 (57th place), Soper bowl a 1141 (34th place), Fogerty bowl a 1094 (36th place), Gallup bowl a 1067 (37th place) and Flander bowl a 1023 (40th place).

Herkimer’s next competition will be at Nationals, which is hosted by Erie Community College. Nationals will consist of a three-day competition, starting on Thursday, February 27th and finishing on Saturday, March 1st. There has been no start time set for competition at this time.
