Herkimer Offense Explodes for 48 Run’s In Wins Over Onondaga, Lackawanna and Suffolk
Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals traveled to Onondaga CC on Friday March 25th to take on Onondaga and Lackawanna CC. The Generals grabbed the lead early in both games to coast to a 14-6 and 9-4 wins. The Generals then traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas to take on Suffolk CC on Saturday. The Generals jumped out ahead of Suffolk winning 14-5 in 5 innings, but tied the twin bill 11-11 when the game was called for darkness.
The Generals offense was led by Michaela Ponticello(Gloversville,NY), Hailey Hunter(Deerfield,NY) and Maiya Reinhart(Batavia,NY). Ponticello finished the weekend with 11 runs scored, 5 RBI’s, and 2 Home Runs. Hunter added 9 RBI’s on 8 hits and a Home Run on the weekend. Maiya Reinhart had 9 RBI’s, on 7 hits with 2 Home Runs.
The Generals staff received wins from freshman pitchers Madison Puppolo(Adams, NY), Madison Prior(East Greenbush, NY) and Elora Wilmot(Cazenovia, NY). Puppalo struck out 5 in 5 innings against Onondaga. Prior struck out 8 against Lackawanna throwing the complete game while only surrendering 3 earned runs. Wilmot struck out 12 in 8 innings of work, receiving the win against Suffolk while grabbing the save against Onondaga.
The Generals move to 8-5-1 on the season and are back in action on March 31st to take Region III opponent, Hudson Valley CC.
