Win Streak Snapped against Tribunes

ROCHESTER, NY – Facing a stiff test on three days rest, the Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team four-game win streak was snapped against NJCAA DI Monroe Community College Wednesday afternoon at John L. DiMarco field, losing to the Tribunes 12-2.

Herkimer (4-1) had another solid game from sophomore Danielle Nicosia (Oneonta, NY). The midfielder netted two goals, one in each half, scoring at least two goals in her last three games now. Unfortunately for the Generals, it wasn’t enough with the Tribunes scoring 12 goals in the game, seven in the first and five in the second half.

Seeing much of that action was freshman Sydney Stanley (Schoharie, NY). In 82 minutes of play, Stanley saved 17 shots. Cassandra Grippe (Frankfort, NY) played the final eight minutes for Herkimer, not recording a save during that time.

The Generals next game is Saturday, September 20th. They’ll host Clinton Community College after three consecutive away games. Herkimer is still undefeated against Mountain Valley Conference opponents this season. With game time scheduled for 2 p.m., the team will look to keep it that way.
