HERKIMER, NY – Coming back down to earth a bit after netting 14 goals against Clinton in their last home game, the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team remained undefeated in the Mountain Valley Conference Wednesday (9/24) at Wehrum Stadium, defeating North Country 5-0.

Herkimer (8-0-1, 4-0) scored some impressive goals on the Saints, seeing a couple solid crosses placed perfectly for a General to make a play on the ball. For example, in the 19th minute sophomore Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland) scored on a header from Rodrigo Guerra (Newburgh, NY), seeing Windster out leap a couple Saints for his sixth goal of the season.

Following suit in the 32nd was Ben Polk (Banbury, UK), this time on an assist from Windster near the right-front goalie post, nailing the ball with a round house kick into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

After intermission it only took 11 minutes for Windster to again find Polk for his nation leading 21st goal of the season, this time on the left-front of the net to body it in for the three goal advantage (3-0).

Scoring the final two goals in the 62nd and 64th minute was forward MacIntyre Felton (Vestal, NY). His first was assisted by Windster, using his strength to position himself for the goal, but the second came from Shane Jenkinson (Dublin, Ireland) who found the sophomore just inside the 18, placing the ball perfectly out of the air for a 5-0 lead. It was Felton’s fourth goal of the season, managing two goals apiece in his last two games.

In the net for Herkimer was sophomore Austin Santor (Chazy, NY). In 66 minutes, he saved three shots, getting his fifth shutout of the season. Playing in the final 24 minutes was freshman Morrice Baker (Manchester, Jamaica). He did not record a save.

The Generals next game is a week away. They’ll host Hudson Valley on Wednesday, October 1st looking to stay undefeated in the Mountain Valley Conference. Game time at Wehrum Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
