Nine different players score in win over Jefferson
WATERTOWN, NY – After scoring their lowest number of goals in a game this season, the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team took care of business Wednesday (10/15) afternoon against Jefferson Community College. The team scored their second highest amount of goals on the Canoneer’s home field, beating them 11-0.
Herkimer (13-0-1, 7-0) had nine different players score in the game, accumulating eight goals in the second half, blowing it open in the 50th after Rodrigo Guerra (Newburgh, NY) scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-0. Joining Guerra with a multiple goal effort was Jeff Castaneda (Franklin Square, NY). The freshman also had two goals in the game on assists from Jeremiah Yondah (Monrovia, Liberia) and Samuel Kersh (Liverpool, UK).
Scoring one goal for the Generals was Moulid Somow (Utica, NY), Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland), Femi Kaffo (London, England), Yuu Sasaki (Funabashi, Japan), MacIntyre Felton (Vestal, NY), Mitsuru Takayashiki (Morioka, Japan), and Ocasio Brown (Bridgeport, CT).
In goal for Herkimer was the tandem of Austin Santor (Chazy, NY) and Jack Kinsley (Reepham, Norfolk). Each had one save in 45 minutes.
The Generals finish their regular season this Saturday (10/18). They’ll travel for a second consecutive game to play Genesee Community College. The Cougars are the fifth best team in the region and will be riding a five-game win streak, shutting out all opponents in that time. Herkimer has scored the second most goals in the nation (86), so Saturday’s matchup will be a good one. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
