Hutchison places first twice at home, breaks own record

HERKIMER, NY – In their only hosted meet of the season, the Herkimer Generals swimming and diving team saw the men finish fourth and the women finish third Saturday (11/15) afternoon at Cristman Pool.
Capturing Top 3 finishes for the men were Brandon Paul (Gloversville, NY) and Dean Schrider (Holland Patent, NY). Paul got his in the 100 yd. Freestyle, posting a personal best time of 56.25. The sophomore also got a fourth place finish in the 200 yd. Freestyle (2:14.00) and a fifth place finish in the 100 yd. Breaststroke (1:19.21). As for Schrider, the freshman posted a 1:05.37 in the 100 yd. Butterfly, giving him a third place finish. Schrider also got two fifth place finishes in the 200 yd. Freestyle and 200 yd. Individual Medley.
As for the women, sophomore Erin Hutchison (Macedon, NY) stood out from the group, placing first individually in both the 1000 yd. and 500 yd. Freestyle. Her 13:02.88 broke her own school record and 6:18.43 beat second place by 10 seconds. After Hutchison, Corinne Richer (Clinton, NY) also did well, capturing second in the 200 yd. I.M. and third in the 100 yd. Butterfly, posting a 2:39.88 and 1:19.41 respectively.
The women also got a second and third place finish in both of their relays, the 200 yd. Medley Relay and 200 yd. Freestyle Relay. The group of Victoria Bemiss (Canaan, NY), Hannah Watts (Norwich, NY), Richer and Hutchison swam a 2:23.31 in the medley and 2:05.71 in the freestyle.
Herkimer’s next meet is on Saturday (11/22). The Generals will travel to SUNY Delhi for the first time this season with competition beginning at 1 p.m.
