Barber and LeRoy take competition by storm in opener

UTICA, NY – In their first match of the season, Herkimer’s Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) and Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY) stole the show on Sunday (1/18) at AMF Pin-O-Rama, finishing in first and second overall, helping the women to a third place finish.

In singles, LeRoy and Barber were two of three Generals to finish in the Top 10 for the women. LeRoy finished fourth (748), Barber finished seventh (731) and Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY) finished 9th (715).

That momentum continued into doubles with Barber and Buck claiming fifth place (1380) and LeRoy and Ronnie Hines (South Otselic, NY) claiming 11th (1323).

As for the men who finished 11th overall, sophomore Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY) was the only General to finish in the Top 15. Marston combined for 1551, racking up 832 pins in singles which was sixth best, then paired up with Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY) for 1294.

Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY) and Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY) were the other two men in singles to place in the Top 33. Cross finished in 22nd (744) and Hilts finished 33rd (715).

The Herkimer Generals bowling team will look to build on their opening performance this Wednesday (1/21) when they travel to Columbia-Greene. Competition is slated to start at 3 p.m.
