Herkimer Men's Soccer wins 11-0 on Pete McAvoy Night

Herkimer, NY – The #2 nationally ranked Herkimer men’s team defeated visiting North Country CC 11-0 on Pete McAvoy night.  Three Generals players recorded hat trick on the night.  Sophomore Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) scored the first two goals of the game.  Blair scored in the 9th minute off a great give and go with freshman Alex Charles (Christ Church, St. Kitts) inside the penalty area.  Blair scored again in the 11th minute off an assist from sophomore Jaahdel Cyril (Bridgeport, Connecticut).  Cyril played a thru ball to Blair who touched it around the keeper and finished.  Cyril scored in the 12th minute off an assist from Charles.  Charles served the ball in the air around the six yard box to Cyril who scored with his head.  Charles scored the next two goals of the game in the 13th and 16th minute.  Blair beat the outside back down the right side of the penalty area and passed the ball to Charles who beat one defender and finished far post.  Charles scored the next goal off an assist from freshman Yohan Kim (Seoul, South Korea).  Kim served the ball thirty yards in the air to Charles who took a great first touch and finished back post.  Freshman Christ Valle (Monroe, NY) was taken down just outside of the penalty area to set up a direct kick for the Generals.  Sophomore Luca Fahling (Domat, Switzerland) converted the set piece in the 18th minute finishing side netting.  Cyril scored the next two goals of the game in the 22nd and 24th minute.  Kim played the ball over the top of the North Country back four to Cyril who scored on the breakaway.  Cyril’s next goal came off a pass from Blair who redirected a Generals corner kick for Cyril to finish first time. 

Blair scored his third goal of the game in the 29th minute off an assist from Kim.  Kim served a cross in from the left side of the penalty area to Blair who headed the ball in to the back post.  Charles recorded his second consecutive hat trick by scoring his third goal in the 38th minute off an assist from Fahling.  Fahling served the ball from the right side of the penalty area to Charles who headed in to the near post.  Freshman Jose Santos (Bridgeport, CT) finished off the scoring for the Generals in the 47th minute off an assist from sophomore Ryotaro Hayashi (Osaka, Japan).  Hayashi served the ball from just outside of the penalty area to Santos who headed the ball to the back post.

 

Freshman Manabu Takahashi (Osaka, Japan) recorded three saves in 45 minutes of play.  Sophomore Tinius Klausen (Oslo, Norway) finished the second half with three saves.  The Generals are back in action on Sunday where they host Corning CC.  Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
