# 5 Herkimer jumps on Corning, cruises to 6-0 victory

Herkimer, NY - The #5 nationally ranked Herkimer Generals Women’s Soccer Team moved to 9-0 on the season after dispatching visiting Corning on Sunday. The Generals attack once again wasted very little time getting on the scoreboard as Raquel Burton (Liverpool, NY) would tap in a rebound from a Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) shot 1:48 into the game. 40 seconds later Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) got on the end of a Courtney Madia (Frankfort, NY) service to make it 2-0. Madia would help strike again as she found a streaking Suppa for a 3-0 lead 16 minutes into the game.

Some nice combination play between Madison Hampston (Poland, NY) and Tayler Clark (Poland, NY) would eventually find Burton for her 2nd of the game just 20 minutes in. Clark would find Suppa to make it 5-0 with 5 minutes left in the half. Out of the break the Generals controlled much of the play with Patricia Fernandez (Madrid, Spain) drawing a penalty kick in the 88th minute. Freshman Ericka Arancio (Clinton, NY) would convert it for a 6-0 final. Kara Steacy (Cincinnatus, NY) registered 2 saves for another shutout victory.

The Generals now take to the road for their next two contests, starting with a matchup against Hudson Valley Community College on Wednesday, Sept 25th. Game time will be at 6:00 PM in Troy, NY.
