HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer’s Ben Polk (Banbury, UK) and Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland) added NSCAA/Continental Tire Junior College DIII All-American to their resume in 2014, helping the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team win their 25th straight Region III Championship and place third overall in the NJCAA DIII National Tournament this past fall.

Polk, a Liberal Arts and Sciences: Generals Studies major at Herkimer College, led the nation in goals with 33, scoring in every game but two. The sophomore headed an offensive attack which accumulated 110 goals in 20 games, with the forward accumulating two or more goals in 11 contests, adding four hat tricks and eight game winners for Herkimer in the process.

As for Windster, the Liberal Arts & Sciences: Generals Studies major managed 13 goals and 14 assists in 2014 which was 24th and fourth best in the nation. The captain helped Herkimer to 97 total assists, possessing a hat trick in that category in back-to-back games against Mountain Valley Conference opponents in September. Windster wasn’t just a distributor for the Generals however, having a goal or assist in 14 total games.

“Both players are well deserving picks for the NSCAA DIII All-American team,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “To have two players make it to the first team is not an easy accomplishment. Each played an enormous part in our offense! Ben is a phenomenal goal scorer combined with great speed and skill, while Jermaine is a great attacking player who is impressive with both feet. Both will do great things at their four-year schools, not only as players, but students as well!”
