Herkimer College’s Cogar Gallery will feature the work of photographer Juan Carlos Rios of Quito, Ecuador from Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, April 15.

Originally from Medellin, Columbia, Rios started taking photos at the age of nine with his father in the gardens of the city. At the age of 16, Rios left Columbia and settled in Quito where he continued taking photos of the local area, birds and flowers. His greatest inspiration for photography has become his wife and son. “I want to leave a graphic testimony of which I am witness today. I am aware that within a few years the landscapes we enjoy today will not be the same and those who come after us will be able to have a reference image,” said Rios.

The Cogar Gallery is located in the Hummel Corporate and Professional Education Center, at the main entrance to the Robert McLaughlin College Center. It is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when the college is open. For more information on the Cogar Gallery visit www.herkimer.edu/cogar.
