HCCC has been ranked second best community college in New York State for the 2013-2014 academic year by Schools.com.  

Schools.com ranked 39 community colleges in New York State, each of which is administrated by the City University of New York (CUNY) or State University of New York (SUNY) system. According to their publication, the schools were ranked based on the following metrics for the 2013-2014 academic year:

  • Student-to-faculty ratio
  • Distance education participation
  • Affordability of tuition
  • Flexibility
  • Graduation rates
  • Retention rates
  • Transfer rates
