Finger Lakes teams sweep Generals
Canandaigua, NY – The Canandaigua area is known for beautiful views, good wines, and Sonnenburg Gardens. Perhaps good basketball should be added to that listing. Herkimer's men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Finger Lakes CC on Tuesday evening, and both were defeated by the Lakers.

It was the men's first loss of the season. It was the women's second defeat, after having beaten the Lady Lakers on the Herkimer hardwood earlier in the young season.
Women's game
The women's game was almost even at the half. The Lakers led 27-26. The game was on almost the exact same scoring pace as their previous encounter, which Herkimer won 53-50. But then the Lady Lakers pulled away, outscoring the visitors 34-24 in the second half and earning a 61-50 victory. The women's record is now 3-2.
Men's game
The Generals simply had a bad night of shooting. They had a slightly-off night from the floor and their worst night in memory from the line. The Lakers outscored Herkimer 60-56. The men's record is now 4-1.
Hornets at Herkimer on Thursday
Both Herkimer teams will be in action at home on Thursday, with both hosting the Broome Hornets. The women's contest will tip off at 5:00 p.m., and the men's game will follow at 7:00.
