Swimming & Diving has slew of All-Region members

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals swimming and diving program totaled two first team and six second team All-Region selections this past weekend at the Region III Swimming and Diving Championship.

Both first team awards went to freshman Nicholas Herrlett (Gloversville, NY). The Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College finished first overall in both one-meter and three-meter diving, defeating second place in the one-meter by 165 points and second place in the three-meter by 91 points. His impressive effort got him two Region III/District Northeast Championships.

Receiving second team nods for the program were Jensen VanNostrand (Macedon, NY), Corinne Richer (Clinton, NY), Cameron Roten (Johnstown, NY), Nicholas Lanckton (Holland Patent, NY) and Dean Schrider (Holland Patent, NY). Lanckton received All-Region honors in two events, the 1650 yd. Freestyle and 100 yd. Breaststroke. His 19:52.39 in the 1650 broke a school record and 1:11.99 in the 100 gave him third place. The rest of the group received All-Region honors in one event, placing second respectively against the competition. VanNostrand swam a 2:36.43 in the 200 yd. Individual Medley, Richer swam a 2:42.18 in the 200 yd. Butterfly, Roten swam a 23.60 in the 50 yd. Freestyle and Schrider swam a 2:34.57 in the 200 yd. Breaststroke.

“We’ve had a special season, and this recognition validates our student-athletes dedication and hard work they’ve been putting in throughout the season,” said Head Swimming and Diving Coach Vicki Brown. “I am so proud of this group, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for us when we go to nationals!”
