Generals build win streak to four games
HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Men’s Basketball team continued their solid play over the weekend and holiday, defeating both Schenectady Community College and Cayuga Community College, increasing their win total to 14 this season.
Winners of seven of their last eight games, Herkimer defeated both the Royals (86-70) and Spartans (90-73) by double digits. Every team they’ve beaten during that eight-game span was by a double-digit margin, holding opponents to an average of 67.6 points per game.
On the flip side of that, the Generals have averaged 81.3 points per game. A big proponent to that has been their defense, which does everything. They play man-to-man, zone and use multiple full-court defenses to cause opponents issues, thus turn it over.
Herkimer’s next three games are against conference opponents. It will look to its defense to establish them as top dog of the Mountain Valley Conference, currently holding a 6-1 record. North County will come to the Generals home court Wednesday (1/22). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
