Generals lose to # 1 Richland in semifinals

Herkimer, N.Y. - Herkimer's men's soccer team went down fighting in their final game of the season against the # 1 ranked Richland Thunderducks.  The Generals faced a worthy opponent who scored quickly and efficiently.  Down 2-0, Luke Murphy(Glasgow, Scotland) would do what he does best and score in the 76th minute of play on an assist from Gus Ward which would help the Generals inch closer to Richland (TX).  But Richlands high powered offense took advantage of a penalty kick in the 77th minute immediately following Murphy's goal and put Herkimer on the ropes.  With time running out Herkimer couldn't find the net and fell short effectively ending their season. 

The loss brings the Herkimer Generals final record to 19-2-1 on the year.  One of their losses by way of #1 Richland in the semifinals of the NJCAA men's soccer nationals and the other to Cayuga who received national votes this year.  Herkimer's tie was against # 2 Genesee CC who will be playing for the NJCAA DIII men's soccer championship against # 1 Richland (TX) on 11/12/17 here at Wehrum Stadium.
