Barber leads charge to start season

(Rebecca Fogerty bowled a 443 series in her first match of the season).

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Bowling team competed in their fourth match at AMF Bowling Alley January 31, 2014. The men placed fifth overall (2380 pins) and the women placed third (2395 pins).

For the men, Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY) bowled a 573 (190, 170, 213), Adam Kozecke (Endwell, NY) bowled a 485 (156, 186, 143), Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY) bowled a 483 (179, 122, 182), Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY) bowled a 424 (160, 148, 116), Thomas Carlson (Apalachin, NY) bowled a 403 (125, 157, 121) and Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY)

For the women, Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY) bowled a 538 (205, 201, 132), Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) bowled a 498 (167, 151, 180), Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY) bowled a 450 (180, 178, 92), Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY) bowled a 433 (129, 168, 136), Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) bowled a 430 (144, 135, 151) and Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY) bowled a 393 (120, 151, 122).

The Generals will be back in action for their only hosted tournament on Thursday, February 6th. Matches are slated to begin at 3 p.m.

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Women’s Bowling team started their season out well last week, competing in two tournaments, one in Hudson Valley (1/21) and one in Columbia-Greene (1/22). After both matches, the team combined for 4,561 pins, giving them third place in the conference behind Hudson Valley and Schenectady County Community College.

Helping the women to those totals were Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY), Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY), Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY), Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY), Desiree Gallup and Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY). Barber led the team in both matches, averaging 168.3 (178, 165 and 162) in Hudson Valley and 171.0 (164, 177 and 172) in Columbia-Greene. After Barber, LeRoy averaged 148.3 in the first match and 156.3 in the second, Fogerty averaged 147.7 in the first match and 146.3 in the second, Soper averaged 142.o in the first match and 154.3 in the second, Flander averaged 136.7 in the first match and 126.0 in the second and Gallup averaged 117.0 in the first and 132.0 in the second.

The women’s next match is Wednesday, January 29th. This time the team will travel to SUNY Adirondack. Competition is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
