Three Generals Soccer Players Named First Team NJCAA all-America

Herkimer, NY – Sophomores Luke Murphy (Glasgow, Scotland), Ferguson Ward (London, England) and Roandre Wollery (Hartford, Conn) have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association all-American team.  All three were selected to the first team. 

Murphy the Generals top goal scorer led the nation in goals with 35.  He was a first team all-Region selection and named Region III player of the year.  Murphy was also selected as the MVP of the Region III championship scoring a hat trick against Onondaga CC.   “Murph has an unbelievable work ethic.  Said Coach Pepe Aragon.  His hard work in training has paid off for him this season.  Murph scored some great goals in very tight big time games.  He has great size and speed.  Murph is a true goal scorer.

Midfielder Ward recorded 15 goals and 13 assists was named 1st team all Mountain Valley Conference, 1st team all-Region III.  He was also selected to the national all-tournament team.  “Gus is an explosive attacking winger that has exceptional speed and skill.  He is a great 1 v 1, 1 v 2 player.  He scored some great goals this season including a 30 yard shot in the national quarter-final game.”  Said Coach Aragon.

Goalkeeper Wollery was second in the country with a 0.67 goals against average.  He was named to the all Mountain Valley Conference and Region III teams.  Wollery recorded 11 shutouts in 22 games.  “Roandre is an unbelievable keeper who came up with big time saves in multiple big time games.  He dominates his penalty area and is very good with his feet.  All the hard work that Roandre put in with GK coach Dida Bailey has paid off.”  Said Coach Aragon

“All three players are truly deserving of this award.  Said Aragon.  To be named as one of the top 22 players in the entire country is special.  All three guys are not only great players, but they are class acts off of the field as well.  All three are great in the classroom and will do great at whatever four year school that they choose for a scholarship.

The Generals finished the season with a 19-2-1 record winning the Mountain Valley Conference and Region III championship.  Herkimer advanced to their 29th national tournament appearance finishing third.
