Herkimer Track and Field opens season at SUNY Delhi Classic

Delhi, NY - The Herkimer Generals Men's and Women's Track and Field finally opened their 2018 season at the Delhi Broncos Track and Field Classic on Saturday, April 14. Bad weather had cancelled the first two meets of the season for the Generals. 

On the men's side, Jordan Edmonds (Bridgeport, CT) qualified for regionals and the national meet with a time of 23.39 in the 200 meter dash. Edmonds also qualified for regionals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.61. Kyle Holmes (Spencer, NY) posted a time of 18:26.14 in the 5000 meter run to qualify for regionals and Mamadou Diallo (Bronx, NY) posted strong times in the 200 and 400 meter dashes.

For the Herkimer women, Malerie Belles (North Syracuse, NY) finished with the second highest mark in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.45 meters and qualifying for the regional and national meets. Sade Davis (Newburgh, NY) had a strong first meet with a time of 31.98 in the 200 meter dash. 

Next up for Generals is a weekend trip to SUNY Cortland on April 21 and 22. The main track and field meet will be held on Saturday while the multi events competition, which will include regional placement in certain events, will be held on Sunday.
