Generals sweep Cougars in regular season play

HERKIMER, NY – Winners now in four of their last five games, the Women’s Basketball teams latest victim was Genesee College, defeating the Cougars 63-49 in their gym Sunday afternoon, sweeping the team in both games played this season.

Herkimer 9-10 (5-5) had two stellar performances from Emily Rexford (Canton, NY) and Samantha Randio (Ravena, NY). Rexford made her mark on Sunday’s game from three-point range, hitting five of them on 10 shots, finishing with a team-high 20 points. As for Randio, she did about everything else, scoring 15 points, but also grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out nine assists, a rebound and assist shy of a triple double.

The other two Generals to score in double figures were Shahadah Williams (Syracuse, NY) and Alyssa Craig (Fonda, NY). Williams finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, her sixth double double this season, while Craig finished with 10 points, two rebounds and three blocks.

Rounding out the attack was Kaylyn Dickerson (Douglasville, GA) and Korey Bunal (Rome, NY). Dickerson finished the game with four points, six rebounds and one block, while Bunal finished with four points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Generals have four of their final six games at home, where they boast and impressive 7-1 record. On Wednesday, the team will host Fulton-Montgomery in the varsity gym at 5 p.m. The last time they played in Raider country, the Generals lost by five (65-60).
