# 1 Herkimer Men's Soccer gets by Cayuga in Overtime

Herkimer, NY - On Tuesday afternoon, the Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team earned the # 1 ranking in the NJCAA Division III National Soccer Poll. On Wednesday night, they had to fight to hang on to it.

Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario) took a pass from Tarik Moussaoui (Oslo, Norway) and scored his second goal of the game 4:19 into the first overtime session to lift Herkimer to a 2-1 win over the undefeated Cayuga Spartans at Wehrum Stadium. The win raises the Generals record to 8-0 on the season. The Spartans drop to 4-1 on the year.

After Cayuga scored first to take the lead, Blair scored late in the first half on an assist from Marvin Tapia (Fairfax, Virginia) to send the game into halftime tied at 1-1. It was a scoreless second half as Herkimer missed multiple chances to score in the last ten minutes of regulation before going to the overtime period. Stian Klausen (Oslo, Norway) played the entire game in goal to earn the win for the Generals.

Next up for the Generals is a weekend out in the western part of New York State. On Saturday, they travel to Buffalo to take on the 6th ranked team in the nation, the Erie Community College Kats. On Sunday, they travel to Sanborn, NY to take on Niagara CCC. Game time against Erie on Saturday is 3:00 PM and Sunday's match against Niagara starts at 2:00 PM.
