Herkimer Women split weekend home games with Corning and Finger Lakes

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Women's Basketball team split two home games this past weekend, defeating Corning Community College 66-53 on Saturday before dropping a tough 68-64 decision to Finger Lakes Community College on Sunday afternoon. The split gives the Generals a record of 3-3 overall heading into the Thanksgiving break.

On Saturday, Herkimer bounced back from a 7 point halftime deficit, holding Corning to 24 second half points to take the win. Lexi DeBeatham (Albany, NY) and Markia Peak (Rochester, NY) each scored 22 points in the comeback win. DeBeatham's huge 3 pointer in the third quarter swung the momentum for the Generals for good as they clinched the 13 point victory

Sunday's game was a mirror image of Saturday as the Generals had a 30-27 lead at the halftime break on Finger Lakes. After a back and forth 3rd quarter, the Generals took the lead briefly in the 4th but the Lakers made enough plays down the stretch to pull away. Myjoi Adams (Pomona, CA) scored a career high 28 points in the loss, including 3 "old fashioned " 3 point plays to keep the Generals close.

Herkimer now gets 10 days off before starting up Region III play again with a trip to Watertown, NY for a game with Jefferson Community College on Thursday, November 29. Tip off is set for 5:00 PM
