Herkimer College Earns #2 Seed in 2019 NJCAA Division III National Tournament

The Herkimer College Men’s Basketball team has earned the #2 seed in the 2019 NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament, to be held in Rochester, Minnesota from March 14th-16th. The Generals will take on #7 Sandhills Community College (NC) in a national quarterfinal game on Thursday, March 14th at 3:00 p.m. EDT (2:00 p.m. CDT).

Herkimer comes into the national tournament with a record of 28-1 and currently are on a 25 game winning streak. This will be their sixth appearance in the national tournament in the last seven years and the 7th overall for Herkimer under Head Coach Matt Lee. The Generals qualified for this year’s tournament with a 71-66 win over Mohawk Valley in the Region III Championship game on Sunday afternoon in Herkimer.

The field of eight teams was set last weekend during district championship play. The schedule for Thursday’s National Quarterfinals in Minnesota is as follows:

Game 1: #6 Middlesex CC (NJ) vs #3 Richland College (TX) at 1:00 p.m. EDT
Game 2: #7 Sandhills CC (NC) vs #2 Herkimer College (NY) at 3:00 p.m. EDT
Game 3: #5 Rock Valley College (IL) vs. #4 Bunker Hill CC (MA) at 6:00 p.m. EDT
Game 4: #8 Central Lakes (MN) vs. #1 Suffolk County CC (NY) at 8:00 p.m. EDT
