Bosco, Patterson lead Herkimer Track and Field effort at Nationals

Utica, NY - Ashley Bosco (Solvay, NY) and Ricky Patterson (Peekskill, NY) led the way for the Herkimer Men's and Women's Track and field teams in the 2019 NJCAA Championships hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College. The women finished in 12th place with 21 points while the men took 15th place with 15 points. 

On the women's side, Bosco took 3rd place in the Shot Put with a distance of 11.69m. She finished 5th in the Hammer Throw at 31.50m and took 7th place in the Javelin at 25.15m. Malerie Belles (Clay, NY) finished 4th in the High Jump (1.44m), 6th in the Heptathlon with 1962 points and 9th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.35m

Patterson's 3rd place finish in the High Jump was the highlight of the Men's efforts, while teammate Kenny Joseph (Dover Plains, NY) followed with a 6th place finish. Joseph also finished 8th in the Triple Jump. Nate Florian (Fort Plain, NY) earned a 7th place spot in the discus with a distance of 33.9m while the 1600m relay team of Patterson, Jacob Slaughter (Ilion, NY), Jordan Edmonds (Bridgeport, CT), and Andrew Yacobucci (Canajoharie, NY) earned a 7th place finish.

Congratulations to long time coach Sharon Howell, who wrapped up her outstanding career as Track and Field Head Coach with the end of the 2019 season. Herkimer College thanks her for service and commitment to the Athletic Program and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
