Men's Soccer opens Conference Play with two wins
The Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team opened Mountain Valley Conference play on Sept 4 and 7 with two wins over SUNY Adirondack and Fulton-Montgomery CC.
Glens Falls, NY - Sophomore Jaahdel Cryil (Bridgeport, CT) and freshman Ikiel Collins-Brown (Highland Mills, NY) scored three goals each to lead Herkimer to a 12-0 win against SUNY Adirondack. Sophomore Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) opened up the scoring in the 14th minute off an assist from freshman Christ Valle (Monroe, NY). Collins-Brown scored his first goal in the 15th minute off an assist from Blair. Blair scored the third goal of the game in the 22nd minute from an assist from sophomore captain Tyler Dobinson (Exmouth, England). Collins-Brown scored his second goal of the game off an assist from sophomore captain Luca Fahling in the 26th minute. Sophomore Ryheim Hinds (Bridgeport, Connecticut) scored the fifth goal of the game from an assist from freshman Yohan Kim (Seoul, South Korea) in the 31st minute. Cyril scored his first goal of the game in the 39th minute off an assist from Dobinson. Collins-Brown completed his hat trick in the 44th minute off an assist from Cyril. Cyril opened up the second half scoring in the 48th minute off a free kick just outside of the penalty area. Freshman Jose Ramos Santos (Bridgeport, Connecticut) scored his first goal of the season in the 54th minute off an assist from Cyril. Freshman Michel Harms (Oisterwijk, Netherlands) scored the tenth goal of the game in the 65th minute off an assist from freshman Tim Placid (Ellenville, NY). Cyril completed his hat trick in the 71st minute from an assist from Valle. Valle finished off the scoring in the 86th minute from Cyril.
Sophomore Tinius Klausen (Oslo, Norway) recorded three saves in forty-five minutes off play. Freshman Manabu Takahashi (Osaka, Japan) played the second half recording two saves.
Herkimer, NY – Freshman Alex Charles (Christ Church, St. Kitts) scored two goals in the second half to move the Generals on to a 4-0 win over visiting Fulton Montgomery Community College. Freshman Ikiel Collins-Brown (Highland Mills, NY) opened up the scoring in the 37th minute off an assist from sophomore Jaahdel Cyril (Bridgeport, Connecticut). Charles scored his first goal in the 59th minute off an assist from freshman Christ Valle (Monroe, NY). Charles tallied another goal in the 81st minute off an assist from sophomore Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario, Canada). Valle finished off the scoring in the 82nd minute from an assist from freshman Yohan Kim (Seoul, South Korea).
Sophomore goalkeeper Tinius Klausen (Oslo, Norway) recorded three saves in 80 minutes of action. Freshman Manabu Takahashi (Osaka, Japan) played the last ten minutes recording one save.
Next up for the Generals are weekend matches against Jamestown CC at home on Saturday Jan 14 and Clinton CC on the road at Plattsburgh State on Sunday, the 15th.
